Eyebrow Aftercare
After your initial eyebrow tattoo you will experience some swelling, this varies from person to person and can cause the tattoo to look uneven and irritated.
Do not panic as this is normal.
The
eyebrows will also appear darker and thicker than the intended final results. You can expect them to fade from 10% - 50% between 3 - 30 days. There will also be some shedding of the skin as it heals which may be
itchy,
do not pick at it as you will cause patches to appear sparse. Some areas of the eyebrows will fade more than others as the pigment oxidizes, it will start to darken up over the initial 2 - 3 week period (this varies from
person to person).
Do not get your eyebrows directly wet, no swimming pools, hot baths, or the ocean.
No sunbathing or prolonged exposure to the sun for 2 weeks before or after the procedure.
No exercise of any kind for 2 weeks after to reduce sweat exposure which releases more natural oils causing a more powdered look when healed.
No tanning/retinols/anti-aging creams for 30 days beforehand and 14 days after. It is important for people who are fairer in skin tone to realize that they will likely suffer more fall out or a variance in the affects
of the tattoo such as a more powdered effect or more solid in places. It is also important for people who are not caucasian to understand that they may not be suitable for certain types of tattooing or indeed be a suitable candidate
at all, this will be decided on an individual basis.
No makeup, makeup remover, moisturizer or any chemicals near the area.
A cream will be applied to the area initially and it will offer protection for 24 hours, after this if the tattoo feels itchy and irritated take a cotton bud and apply a rice sized portion of the after ink serum that has been
provided to you in your aftercare packet. This can be applied up to 2 times a day if necessary, once in the morning and once in the evening.
If they do not feel irritated in any way
simply leave them to settle, we are aiming for a dry healing process if achievable.
Try not to touch the tattoo. It may scab or peel but let it process naturally as any interference can affect the tattoo and with such a small surface area any damages will be obviously noticeable.
Healing will take around 2 weeks for the skin to grow around and over the tattoo. You can go back to your normal skin care and exercise routine after this period. However, full healing will take 5 weeks and no touch ups can
be arranged before this time as the new skin can often make the eyebrows appear lighter and ‘milky’, but as they continue to heal they will grow stronger in appearance.
It is customary to have a touch up only if necessary after 2-3 months and then a repeat every 1-2 years afterwards to maintain the pigment and ensure they don't grow warmer in tone. The same aftercare guidance will apply each
time your eyebrows are tattooed.
When you leave the studio the hairstrokes and pigments will be intact. How the body heals after that is not the responsibility of the technician. Even if you follow these aftercare instructions closely there is a chance of
fading blurring and poor retention.
The technician is not responsible for how the eyebrows heal as this is a very delicate and specialist procedure.
Smoking and exposure to sun will cause the eyebrows to fade quicker be aware of this goin in. Your lifestyle and skin care routine will directly affect how your tattoos heal and how long they last.
